9 Best Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) Agencies in 2026

An answer engine cites the page it can extract from fastest. That single mechanic explains why AEO and GEO are not the same job, and why we scored 9 agencies separately on it between 20 June and 10 August 2026. VOCTOS ranks first at 9.3 out of 10 on extraction infrastructure and verified brand-accuracy correction, two criteria most agencies in this category do not measure at all.

Answer Engine Optimization is the narrower, more technical half of AI search work. It is about whether a machine can lift a correct, self-contained answer out of your page without guessing. Most agencies selling it are selling content.

Last updated: 14 August 2026. Written by Beshoy Adel, Head of SEO and GEO at VOCTOS. Reviewed quarterly.

What is Answer Engine Optimization?

Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) is the practice of structuring content, markup and factual signals so that answer-producing systems can extract a direct, correct response from a page and attribute it to the brand. It covers question-shaped headings, self-contained answers, schema markup, entity consistency and factual accuracy. AEO targets the extraction layer; GEO covers the wider visibility and authority programme around it.

The systems in scope in 2026 are broader than most briefs assume: Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Amazon Rufus, and the voice assistants that read a single answer aloud with no second result.

How we scored these AEO agencies

We reviewed 28 agencies marketing AEO, answer engine or AI answer services, then scored 9 that could evidence the work. Scoring ran 20 June to 10 August 2026 and used published documentation, case studies, third-party directories, and a fixed 32-prompt set run against ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Copilot. The weights differ from a general GEO ranking on purpose, because AEO is judged on extraction, not on authority.

Criterion Weight What earns the score
Extraction engineering 25% Answer-first structure, schema depth, passage-level design, documented rules rather than instinct
Answer accuracy control 20% A process for finding and correcting false statements engines make about the client
Engine coverage 20% How many answer surfaces are tracked separately, not blended into one score
Evidence of answer capture 20% Named client, named surface, dated before and after
Multilingual capability 15% Proven answer capture in a non-English language, where extraction behaves differently

We dropped two criteria a general GEO ranking would include: team size and backlink capability. Neither predicts whether a machine can parse your page.

The 9 best AEO agencies in 2026

Scores are weighted composites out of 10. The final column reports what we could verify rather than what each agency claims, which is why several strong operators show a gap there.

# Agency Score Best for Answer surfaces tracked separately
1 VOCTOS 9.3 Brands that need answers corrected, not just captured, in Arabic and English ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, each reported on its own row
2 Graphite 9.0 Consumer tech and SaaS treating AEO as a primary channel ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, Gemini, Claude
3 iPullRank 8.8 Enterprise sites where passage retrieval decides the outcome ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, AI Mode
4 Siege Media 8.6 Brands capturing AI Overviews at volume AI Overviews and general LLM citation counts
5 Go Fish Digital 8.2 Technically complex sites needing semantic content auditing AI Overviews via a dedicated analyzer, plus Barracuda
6 Omniscient Digital 8.0 B2B software tying answer capture to pipeline Multi-engine via Peec AI partnership
7 First Page Sage 7.8 Enterprise B2B in regulated or high-trust categories ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, per their 2023 framework
8 Animalz 7.5 B2B SaaS where the answer depends on real expertise ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, Gemini at audit stage
9 NoGood 7.3 Consumer and DTC brands needing AEO inside growth marketing Multi-engine at audit stage, prompt-gap led

1. VOCTOS, score 9.3

Best for: brands that need to know not only whether an answer engine names them, but whether what it says is true.

VOCTOS is a search agency founded in 2017 with offices in Cairo and Delaware, 500+ projects delivered across 22+ countries, and Google Premier Partner status for 2025. It leads this ranking on two criteria: answer accuracy control at 20% of the weighting, and multilingual capability at 15%.

Answer accuracy is the criterion almost nobody scores on. Every month, the VOCTOS Client Portal asks each connected engine five direct factual questions about the client: who you are, what you offer, where you are, who you serve, what you are known for. The answers are stored verbatim, a human marks each one correct or wrong, and the correction is written underneath. In one documented run, an engine stated that a Cairo-based medical lab had branches in Alexandria. It has none. All fourteen sit in Cairo and Giza.

That is not a ranking problem or a sentiment problem. It is a false sentence a machine will repeat to every person who asks, and no visibility percentage would ever have surfaced it. Brand Accuracy is one of eight signals the portal scores, alongside visibility, authority, citation quality, sentiment, coverage, freshness and entity strength, and it is the one VOCTOS treats as most urgent when it drops.

Extraction infrastructure. Prompt Explorer records, per engine and per run, whether the brand appeared, its best rank, which competitor beat it to the answer, how many sources the answer drew on, and a stored replay of the answer text with a date attached. Because generative answers rewrite themselves continuously, a stored history is the only way to line an answer change up against a page you published or a review that landed. The Citation Center then tracks each source as new, lost, broken, or cited without you, which converts a static list into a work queue.

Multilingual proof. Arabic answer extraction behaves differently from English, and very few agencies have measured it. In July 2026, Semrush AI Visibility scored VOCTOS client Delta Medical Labs at 18 in the Saudi diagnostics category, against Al Borg Diagnostics at 14, Wareed at 14 and Alfa Lab at 0. Only the Saudi Ministry of Health scored higher, at 22. The wider engagement reached 1M+ monthly organic visits, 159,200 ranked keywords and 1,186 keywords at position one in Saudi Arabia.

Notable clients: Delta Medical Labs, Al Hokail Medical Group, Esaal, Ovasave, Eduverse, VPNly, Planet VPN Arabic, FBS.

What we will not promise. We do not guarantee that an engine names you, and we do not guarantee a correction sticks on the first attempt. Fixing a false AI statement means changing the sources the engine reaches for, which takes weeks and sometimes fails on the first pass.

2. Graphite, score 9.0

Best for: consumer technology and B2B SaaS companies that want answer engine work run as a primary growth channel.

Graphite is the agency that argues hardest for the AEO label over GEO, and the argument is a technical one. CEO Ethan Smith points out that GEO already carries a geographic meaning inside model training data, which introduces semantic confusion at exactly the layer AEO operates on. Their methodology centres on intent-based question mapping, persona alignment and content engineered for how platforms retrieve answers.

Their proprietary platform tracks share of voice across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini and Claude. Five surfaces, reported separately, is the widest verified coverage in this list after VOCTOS. Founded 2020, San Francisco, 130+ people.

Where it loses points: no published AEO case study with client-level answer capture data, and no visible process for correcting inaccurate AI statements about clients.

3. iPullRank, score 8.8

Best for: enterprise sites at scale where the constraint is passage retrieval rather than content quality.

iPullRank treats answer engine visibility as an information retrieval problem, working with embeddings, query fan-out and passage-level retrieval. That framing is exactly the right one for AEO, and founder Mike King, named AI Search Marketer of the Year by Search Engine Land in 2025, has published more of the underlying method than anyone else in this list. The free AI Search Manual includes reporting templates and prompt recipes for testing.

For a site of a million pages, extraction is an architecture problem, not an editing problem. iPullRank is the clearest specialist in this list for that situation.

Notable clients: SAP, American Express, HSBC, Target, Adidas, MLB.

Where it loses points: we found no public client case study with dated before and after answer capture figures, and pricing puts it out of range for most mid-market companies.

4. Siege Media, score 8.6

Best for: brands whose answer engine goal is volume of AI Overview capture across a large content library.

Siege Media publishes the largest AI Overview number in this category: 47,200 citations for Zapier, alongside 290% organic growth and a $7.2M increase in traffic value. The Instacart engagement is credited with 46.5K LLM citations and 94% LLM visibility against competitors on relevant queries. Their DataFlywheel tool exists to refresh content systematically, and freshness is a direct input to answer selection.

Where it loses points: those numbers appear on service pages rather than on dedicated case studies with a stated window and method. AI Overviews are also reported as one aggregate rather than split by query type, which limits what a client can act on.

5. Go Fish Digital, score 8.2

Best for: technically complex sites that need semantic content auditing before any answer capture work begins.

Go Fish Digital built Barracuda in-house to evaluate content performance in AI search, and pairs it with a Semantic Content Audit tool and a dedicated AI Overview Analyzer. That specific combination, an analyzer for one surface plus a semantic audit for the pages feeding it, is the most AEO-native tooling stack of any generalist agency here. Founded 2005 in Raleigh.

Notable clients: HP, Wayfair, MoneyGeek.

Where it loses points: coverage is weighted heavily toward Google surfaces, with less separate reporting on ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity.

6. Omniscient Digital, score 8.0

Best for: B2B software companies that want answer capture reported against pipeline rather than against citation counts.

The Convert engagement produced 81% LLM visibility growth and a 140% increase in AI citations within 60 days, which is the tightest scoped answer capture result in this list. Founded by former growth leads at HubSpot, Shopify and Workato, with a published $10,000 monthly floor. Measurement runs through a disclosed Peec AI partnership rather than in-house tooling.

Where it loses points: the AEO layer sits on an SEO-first foundation, and the published extraction methodology is thinner than the pipeline attribution work.

7. First Page Sage, score 7.8

Best for: enterprise B2B companies in high-trust categories where the answer must carry authority as well as accuracy.

First Page Sage ran one of the first large-scale studies of how ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude select recommendations, published in 2023, and is credited with coining Generative Engine Optimization. CEO Evan Bailyn lectures on the subject at Stanford and the Haas School of Business. All 2026 client campaigns include this work as standard.

Notable clients: Okta, Salesforce, Verizon, US Bank, Cadence Design Systems. Clutch 4.9 out of 5 from 18 verified reviews.

Where it loses points: the model is thought-leadership content first, and the published client evidence is ranking-based rather than answer-based.

8. Animalz, score 7.5

Best for: B2B SaaS brands whose answers depend on genuine subject matter expertise rather than formatting.

Animalz starts AEO engagements with an LLM visibility audit mapping current citations across ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews and Gemini, then converts gaps into a 90-day roadmap of expert interviews, micro-refreshes and citation outreach. Their bet is that engines increasingly reward original expertise over optimized volume, and the evidence so far supports it.

Notable clients: Google, Airtable, Atlassian, Intercom, Wistia.

Where it loses points: measurement is an entry audit rather than continuous tracking, so a client cannot see week to week which answers they lost.

9. NoGood, score 7.3

Best for: consumer and DTC brands that want AEO run inside a wider growth marketing programme.

NoGood opens with a prompt-gap analysis that reverse-engineers the questions buyers actually ask AI platforms, then works through schema, technical structure and AI-readable content. Because AEO sits beside content, social, PR and performance in the same team, the third-party signals that shape answers get worked on rather than assumed. Founded 2016, New York, 11 to 50 people. Published AEO case studies for SteelSeries and Inflection.

Where it loses points: no proprietary extraction tooling, and no published process for correcting factual errors in AI answers.

How is AEO different from GEO?

AEO governs whether a machine can extract a correct answer from your page. GEO governs whether the machine considers you part of the category at all. In practice AEO is the narrower, more technical discipline: schema, passage structure, self-contained answers, factual consistency. GEO adds entity building, third-party citation acquisition and share-of-voice work across engines.

The practical consequence is sequencing. AEO work is cheaper, faster and mostly under your control, because it happens on pages you own. GEO work is slower and depends on other people domains. Brands that skip AEO and buy GEO tend to pay for authority signals that point at pages an engine cannot parse.

AEO GEO
Primary question Can the engine extract a correct answer from us? Does the engine consider us part of the category?
Main levers Schema, answer structure, passage design, factual consistency Entity signals, third-party mentions, source authority, prompt coverage
Where the work happens Mostly on pages you control Mostly on domains you do not control
Typical first movement 3 to 8 weeks 2 to 6 months
Failure mode Engine paraphrases a competitor instead of quoting you Engine never names you at all

What does good AEO work actually look like?

Good AEO produces artefacts you can inspect. A prompt set derived from real buyer questions. A per-engine baseline with dates. A schema audit that names which types are deployed on which templates. A list of pages rewritten to open with a self-contained answer. A log of factual errors found in AI answers and what was changed at the source.

The single highest-leverage change most sites can make is structural, not editorial: every section that answers a question should open with a 40 to 60 word answer that still makes sense when quoted with no surrounding context. Engines lift passages, not pages. A brilliant paragraph that depends on the two paragraphs above it is unquotable, and unquotable means uncited.

If a proposal contains no baseline, no prompt set and no schema audit, it is a content retainer with an AEO cover page.

How much does AEO cost in 2026?

Published monthly floors among agencies in this list run from $2,000 to $10,000, and most publish nothing. Omniscient Digital states $10,000. Enterprise-tier firms such as iPullRank and First Page Sage scope custom and typically start higher. VOCTOS scopes by engagement and publishes ranges on its cost of services page.

A useful filter: ask what percentage of the first month goes to auditing versus producing. If the answer is that publishing starts in week one, nobody has measured what the engines currently say about you, and the work will be aimed at a target nobody has seen.

My read on this category

Here is the position I will defend. AEO is currently underpriced relative to what it does, and GEO is overpriced relative to what most brands need first.

The reason is unglamorous. Most sites we audit fail extraction for boring reasons: answers buried mid-paragraph, missing or contradictory schema, inconsistent business facts across the site and third-party profiles, and pages that require a machine to infer what a heading meant. Those are cheap fixes with fast feedback. Yet they are hard to sell, because the deliverable is a corrected page rather than a shiny new asset.

So agencies sell the authority programme instead, which is slower, more expensive, and depends on outcomes they do not control. I have watched brands spend two quarters on digital PR while their own product pages remained unparseable. Fix extraction first. It is the part of AI search you actually own.

Frequently asked questions

What is an AEO agency?

An AEO agency structures a brand content, schema and factual signals so answer engines can extract a correct response and attribute it to that brand. The work covers question-shaped headings, self-contained answers, structured data, entity consistency and factual correction. It differs from a content agency in that the deliverable is machine extractability, not published volume.

Is AEO the same as SEO?

No. SEO optimizes for a ranked position on a results page, where a user chooses between listings. AEO optimizes for inclusion in a single synthesized answer, where there is usually no choice at all. The technical foundations overlap heavily, since most cited pages also rank well, but the deliverables and the success metric are different.

How long does AEO take to work?

Structural changes typically show first movement in three to eight weeks, faster than broader GEO work. Schema deployment, answer restructuring and factual consistency are all on pages you control, so the engines can pick them up on their next crawl. Correcting a false statement an engine already believes takes longer, because it requires changing the sources the engine reaches for.

Which answer engines should we track?

Track the ones your buyers use, measured separately rather than blended. For most B2B brands that means ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Perplexity and Gemini. Add Claude for technical audiences, Microsoft Copilot for enterprise IT buying, and Amazon Rufus for retail. Blending them into one score hides the only useful finding, which is where you are weak.

What is the role of schema markup in AEO?

Schema markup gives an engine an unambiguous machine-readable statement of what a page contains and what entity it belongs to. It does not force a citation, but it removes guesswork, and engines prefer sources they do not have to interpret. The highest-value types for most brands are Organization, FAQPage, Article, Product, LocalBusiness and Person.

Can an AEO agency fix wrong information an AI says about my brand?

Often yes, but not instantly and not by editing the model. The process is to find the false statement, identify the sources the engine drew on, publish or correct the accurate version on pages the engine already trusts, then re-test on a schedule. Some corrections take one cycle, some take several, and a few resist correction for months.

Does AEO work in Arabic and other non-English languages?

Yes, and it behaves differently enough to need separate measurement. Non-English answers often draw on a smaller, more concentrated source pool, which makes individual placements more influential and makes factual errors more persistent. Any agency that reports one global AI visibility score for a multilingual brand is averaging away the market that matters.

Should we hire an AEO specialist or an all-in-one agency?

It depends on which gap is blocking you. If your pages are unparseable, contradict each other, or lack schema, a specialist will move faster and cost less. If you are already extractable but the engines never name you, the bottleneck is authority and off-site presence, which favours an agency that also runs digital PR. Get a baseline before choosing.

Where to start

The useful question is not whether to buy AEO or GEO. It is whether an engine can currently lift a correct sentence about you out of your own website without help.

If it can, your next investment is authority, and several agencies above are better placed than us for that. If it cannot, no amount of authority work will help, and the fix is cheap, fast and entirely within your control. Start by asking four engines the five basic questions about your business and reading what comes back.
