Egypt

We are in Cairo. That is where the team sits, not where the invoice is addressed.

Point 9 Mall in the New Capital, since 2017. The team is Egyptian and works in Arabic every day, which decides things a translated brief never gets right.

What is different about search in Egypt

The obvious thing is language, and it is not the whole story.

Dialect in commercial queries. Informational searches skew toward Modern Standard Arabic. Commercial and local ones arrive in Egyptian Arabic, and the words differ from Gulf Arabic in exactly the terms that matter. A keyword list built for Riyadh underperforms in Cairo and the reverse is equally true.

Price is the query. Cost, comparison and “is it worth it” searches carry more weight here than in the Gulf markets. A service page that will not name a range, or at least explain what drives the number, loses the visit to one that will.

Devices and networks. Mid-range Android on mobile data describes a large share of the audience. A template that scores well in a lab test can fail INP badly for that user, and that is the user who was going to call you.

Local search here

The map pack does the heavy lifting for anything with a physical location, and most Egyptian profiles we audit are half-filled: an English category, no Arabic services, hours that ignore holidays, and reviews nobody has answered. It is the cheapest available improvement in this market and it is routinely unowned.

What we would ask you first

Whether your buyers are in Egypt only or across the region, because that changes the structure before it changes the content. A single Arabic version serving Egypt and the Gulf is one language and several markets, and it usually underperforms in all of them.

How we start in Cairo

  1. Market read

    Weeks 1 to 2

    • Your real competitors in the Egyptian SERP, which are often not the ones you name
    • Query research in Egyptian Arabic rather than translated from English
    • Whether your buyers are Egypt-only or regional, which changes the structure
    • Device and network reality for your actual traffic, from field data
  2. Baseline

    Weeks 2 to 4

    • Technical baseline with field Core Web Vitals by template
    • Google Business Profile audit in both languages if you have a location
    • Arabic and English rankings tracked separately from day one
    • Current AI answers in both languages, stored and dated
  3. Build

    Weeks 4 onward

    • Arabic content written by Egyptians, not translated
    • Profile and citation work if you have a physical presence
    • Technical fixes prioritized by what the field data says
    • Entity record settled across Arabic and Latin name forms
  4. Reporting

    Monthly

    • Leads and calls, not sessions
    • Arabic and English reported separately, never blended
    • Map pack grid re-scanned on the same points
    • In the portal, with last-sync times on every screen

We've grown a lot since then, today we have three physicians, a full-time secretary, and dedicated cleaning staff, largely thanks to the steady flow of new patients their marketing brought in.

Language is a per-query decision

When Egyptian buyers switch language, and when they do not

This is the finding that decides an Egyptian keyword list. It is not one language per person. It is one language per query.

Question typeUsually searched in ArabicUsually searched in English
Local and near-me searchesAlmost always Arabic, in Egyptian dialect rather than the formal written register.Rare, and mostly from expatriate audiences.
Price and comparison queriesDominant. Cost questions carry more weight here than in the Gulf.Occasional, in B2B and enterprise software.
Technical and developer termsLess common. Loanwords appear transliterated.Dominant. Product names and technical terms stay English.
Health, legal and governmentHeavily Arabic. Trust language matters more than keyword volume.Rare outside private international providers.
B2B software and SaaSGrowing, and still the minority.Dominant, including the category names.

A keyword list built for Riyadh underperforms in Cairo and the reverse is equally true. We build them separately.

What we check first

The Egyptian audit checklist

The findings that repeat across almost every Egyptian site we inherit, in the order we work through them.

Primary category in both languages

A Google Business Profile filled in English with empty Arabic fields is invisible to the larger half of the query pool.

Field Core Web Vitals by template

Mid-range Android on mobile data is a large share of Egyptian traffic. A lab score does not describe that user.

Dialect against the formal register

Commercial queries arrive in Egyptian dialect. Informational ones skew formal. One list does not serve both.

Price transparency

Cost queries carry unusual weight here. A page that will not name a range loses the visit to one that will.

Arabic URL and RTL handling

Percent-encoded slugs, and layouts that hold at desktop then break at one breakpoint. Tested per template.

Review replies in the review language

An Arabic review answered in English reads as a business that does not speak to its own customers.

Every item here has produced a real finding on an Egyptian site in the last year.

Questions about working in Cairo

No. Cairo is where we are based and roughly 22 countries are where our clients are. What being here gives you is native Egyptian Arabic and a team in your timezone rather than an account manager three zones away.

Yes, natively. Content, keyword research, profile fields and review replies are written by people who speak the language, not run through a translation tool.

Priced after a scoping call. We do not publish one number because the same service costs differently for a five-page site and a ten-thousand-product store, and publishing a headline figure would mean one of you overpays.

Eduverse, Esaal, Saif Cabinets and Serial Translation are all published in full with the numbers.

Yes, and we treat it as a separate market rather than an extension of this one. Al Hokail in Saudi Arabia and Ogaei in the Gulf are the proof of that.
